Green Light, 2025
Markus Wüste (*1970, Kötzting, DE) works primarily with stone, using it to virtuously evoke the impossible and paradoxical movement, dynamism, and illusion. Through his exploration of time, he develops a material language that engages with the appearance of things, our sense of materiality, their recognizability, and the atmospheric presence of form. Surface and depth are revealed simultaneously.
Green Light. The light of a streetlamp is reflected in the shape of a cone, framed by thin steel cables that trace its empty volume like vertical guidelines. Gradually, the natural surroundings become overgrown, interwoven with plants. As in the wilderness, there is a vibrant bustle, layers of growth and entanglement, driven by nature’s return, guided by the light. This light becomes a kind of forgiving force, slowly revealing the presence of an invisible body over time, through green radiation and reflections cast back from the forest floor.
